Sean D. Kennedy is a graduate of the University of Chicago and Tulane Law School where he earned certificates in both Civil Law and Maritime Law. During law school, Sean served on the Tulane Maritime Law Journal, which selected two of his works for publication in the Spring and Fall 2008 volumes. He was also the recipient of the 2008 Tulane Maritime Law Center Award for his legal writing.
Sean concentrates his legal practice in the economic and commercial areas of shipping. He practiced for several years with a maritime law firm in New Orleans, where he represented marine cargo interests, vessel charterers, marine insurers and owners of offshore drilling vessels in collision, salvage, wreck removal, insurance coverage and commercial disputes. In his more recent practice, Sean expanded his maritime civil litigation work in the areas of maritime debt enforcement and collection, including detection, investigation and recovery in successor corporation liability claims, lender liability to third parties, and piercing of fraudulent corporate restructuring schemes.
Sean is admitted to practice in Louisiana and Texas, the federal district courts for the Middle and Eastern District of Louisiana, Southern District of Texas, and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
